New mural is finished at the Lake Street Target location (2500 East Lake St) in Minneapolis, MN - Artwork by Raul Villanueva. It took about three weeks to complete - exterior latex paint on stucco. I am happy to be a part of the team that brought this piece of artwork to fruition, thanks to everyone involved!!
- As part of the plan to reopen the store, Target was committed to co-creating permanent murals on the store’s exterior that reflect the Lake Street community. Local guests were asked what they would want the art on the store to represent, and they desired art that honors the cultural richness of the Lake Street community and conveys a sense of unity and positive change for the future.
These insights inspired a team member to write a poem that serves as a theme for the murals, and Target commissioned seven local, diverse artists with ties to the Lake Street community to share their artistic interpretations of key words in the poem: rooted, change, resilience, healing, growth, renewal and together.
Also.. thanks to Hirshfield’s Paint for the products!!
