I purchased a framed print by the artist Judy Mandolf from Hidden Treasures Thrift Store in NE Minneapolis. The print, “Purple Tub,” shows a dark indigo bathtub in the corner of a bathroom with light yellow/green walls, a colorful yet quaint bathroom image. The artist statement sticker on the back of the frame indicates, “(She) created this bathroom series through a combination of photography and computer technique. The richness of color and texture is part of her signature style.”
Purchase price: $4.99
I painted a pink rubber duck on the print and returned this ‘new’ artwork back to the same thrift store on 04/22/2024, around 12:40pm.
A successful collaboration! Thanks, Judy, for your contribution to the work!
The finished artwork by Judy Mandolf and Seamus Liam O’Brien. (Note: the original price tag still on the frame)
The original framed print that I purchased from the thrift store - (Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it when I purchased it, so all I could find online was this small image as an example)
I added my name and work contribution to the artist statement sticker that was located on the back of the frame.
I added my name to the artwork once the painting was completed - Judy Mandolf + Seamus Liam O’Brien
I painted a large pink rubber duck in the bathtub.
The pink rubber duck I used as my model for the painting.
After finishing the artwork I returned the piece back to Hidden Treasures Thrift Store.
